Carlos Tevez has responded to interest from Corinthians by admitting he would be open to a return to his former club.

The forward has set his sights on leaving Manchester City and a switch to the Brazilian club would tick plenty of boxes, as it would enable him to be nearer to his family in South America.

City have no pressing need to sell and are keen to secure a fee in the region of £50 million, but that price tag has put off many admirers. The Brazilian transfer window closes later this month and with Corinthians' reported gambit of £40m on the table, City may be forced to accept a lesser fee.

There has been no word from City on the subject, but Tevez has been made aware of the reports and would be open to a transfer.

"If there is interest, I don't have any problem in returning to Corinthians," Tevez, who is currently on Copa America duty in Argentina, told Telefe.

Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian has confirmed talks have taken place and feels a deal is close to being agreed.

"Negotiations have already begun," he said. "Corinthians are in contact with us.

"Corinthians have made the offer, now it depends only on Manchester City. City have to make a decision.

"Everybody is working to make this happen, I, Corinthians, Tevez, Adrian Ruocco (the other agent who work on Tevez). It is impossible to determine the situation, but I think it's close.

"His dream and mine is to see him back with Corinthians. He said he has a job that does not end there, he wants to return because he has the dream of winning the Copa Libertadores."
