Paul Konchesky has been shown the door by Liverpool, after the Reds struck a deal to sell the defender to Leicester City.

The full back was brought to Anfield from Fulham by Roy Hodgson but he was farmed out on loan to Nottingham Forest following Hodgson's departure.

It was made clear to the 30-year-old that he had no future under Kenny Dalglish and Leicester have swooped to secure a deal.

Konchesky successfully completed a medical before putting his name to a three-year contract, much to the delight of Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson.

"Paul has been a Premier League player year in and year out throughout his career so he represents a very big signing for us," Eriksson, who handed Konchesky his England debut, told Leicester's official website. "He wanted to come to Leicester City and it means a lot that proven, established top-flight footballers want to be part of what we are building here.

"I know Paul very well as a player and as a person and he will be a top-class addition to our squad."
