Modric poised to hand in transfer request

The transfer saga surrounding Luka Modric has taken a fresh twist, with widespread reports claiming the midfielder is poised to submit a written transfer request.
Modric has been the subject of two failed bids from Chelsea, the latest of which was for £27 million.
The Croatian has held crunch talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy where he made it clear he wanted to go.
Levy emerged from the meeting to insist Modric would not be sold, prompting the midfielder to accuse Levy of going back on an agreement to allow him to leave if offers of the size of the ones made by Chelsea were tabled.
Levy has insisted the club have no desire to sell and it remains to be seen if Modric's latest move has any impact at White Hart Lane.
Modric has continued to train with his Spurs team-mates and has made the trip to South Africa for their pre-season tour, with manager Harry Redknapp hopeful it will help the Croatian focus on his football.
