Charles N'Zogbia's expected move to Aston Villa has been completed after the midfielder passed a medical on Friday and signed a five-year deal at the club.

Following months of speculation regarding N'Zogbia's future, Wigan accepted a fee of £9.5 million for the Frenchman earlier this week. The 25-year-old produced a series of polished displays last term for the Latics, attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

With Ashley Young and Stewart Downing moving to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, Villa's options out wide have been drastically cut. Alex McLeish has now acted swiftly to fill the void.

N'Zogbia, who has been at Wigan for two-and-a-half years, flew in following a holiday to be assessed at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training complex - although McLeish and the rest of the Villa squad are currently on a pre-season tour of Asia, where they are set to meet Chelsea in the final of the Asia Trophy on Saturday.
