Lampard returns to training with Chelsea

Frank Lampard has handed Chelsea a boost ahead of the new season by returning to training on Wednesday.

There was a slight doubt hanging over the midfielder after he was sent home from the England squad for the now postponed friendly with Netherlands on account of a virus.

Chelsea face Stoke in their Premier League opener on Sunday and Lampard now seems certain to figure after turning out with his team-mates at the club's Cobham training ground.

John Terry and Ashley Cole also trained, having been allowed to leave the international fold on Tuesday evening following the postponement of the game with Netherlands at Wembley on account of the London riots.
