Bradford demand Cleverley cash from Man United

Manchester United starlet Tom Cleverley could land Bradford City a cash windfall, with the League Two side insisting they are owed 10% of all his loan fees.

Cleverley, who starred in Sunday's Community Shield victory over Manchester City and was called up by England this week, was nurtured at Bradford before joining United as a 12-year-old schoolboy.

The deal that took Cleverley to Old Trafford in 2005 included a clause that entitled Bradford, who have twice been in administration, to a payout whenever the midfielder's registration was transferred.

Cleverley, 21, spent time on loan with Leicester, Watford and Wigan during his formative years with United and despite a reported payment of around £300,000 made by the Latics when he moved to the DW Stadium last season, Bradford are yet to receive any cash, according to the Sun.

Bradford joint-chairman Mark Lawn told the newspaper: "We're currently in discussions with United. They are a professional and sensible club so I don't see a problem. We're saying that this is the contract and we believe we're owed money so we're waiting for them to get back to us."

The Sun claims United have offered Bradford £50,000.
