Chelsea have confirmed that Fernando Torres will be available for the Blues' Premier League opener against Stoke on Sunday.

The striker suffered mild concussion while on international duty for Spain in midweek, coming off after only 15 minutes of the world champions' 2-1 defeat to Italy. He was taken to a Bari hospital for a scan.

The former Liverpool forward had been a doubt for the trip to the Britannia Stadium, but Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the striker will travel.

"I think he should be OK to be selected for the team travelling up to Stoke," he said. "He suffered concussion and yesterday he still couldn't remember a couple of things from the game and from before the game, but he was back in training today and he is up for selection."

Villas-Boas also confirmed that David Luiz would not play as he continues to recover from a knee injury.
