Tottenham agree Keane fee with Galaxy - reports

Tottenham have agreed a fee to sell striker Robbie Keane to Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy in a deal understood to be worth £3 million, according to widespread reports.

Keane is unwanted by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and said recently that he expected to tie up a move before the end of the transfer window, which in the United States closed at 9pm Sunday [US Pacific Time].

Adding further fuel to speculation regarding the impending move was the absence of Juan Pablo Angel from LA's training session on Sunday morning. In order to complete the deal with Keane the Galaxy must offload one of their top earning players, and David Beckham and Landon Donovan appear unlikely to exit.

When quizzed on the Ireland international joining the MLS side, Los Angeles coach Bruce Arena was coy.

"We have no comments at this time on any player moves," Arena said. "We're hoping to have some stuff to announce in the next 24 to 48 hours," he told ESPN on Sunday.

"I have no comments about any player. I think our policy since I've been here is to not talk about players that are with other clubs or names that are just fantasyland out there until we actually acquire a player. That's the only time we comment. And you know that's been our consistent history. Once something changes, we'll let you know, and it'll be accurate."

Meanwhile, Angel's Colombian colleague, goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, has Tweeted that he hopes the former Aston Villa front-man ends up playing alongside him at the Philadelphia Union.

"It would be a dream come true to have my 'brother' @JUANPABLOANGEL playing for the Philadelphia Union, [he would] fit perfectly into our team! Its just a personal wish, just saying, you never know! Sorry its all I CAN tell right now!," he said.
