Manchester City's two-goal hero Sergio Aguero has warned their rivals he is just getting started, declaring his fabulous debut as the "beginning of something great".

City signed Aguero from Atletico Madrid for £38 million at the end of last month, but the striker has only had one week of training with his new team-mates after coming back from the Copa America in mid-July with blistered feet.

If there was any rust it did not show, the Argentine starring in his first outing for City as Swansea were put to the sword. The 23-year-old came off the bench on the hour mark, scoring twice and setting up another goal as Roberto Mancini's side opened their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 drubbing of the top flight new boys.

Following the victory that saw City move joint-top with Bolton, Aguero wrote on Twitter: "Very happy with my debut for City. Hopefully it is the beginning of something great. Thanks to my companions for helping me and to the fans for the support."

He later told City TV: "I am happy. The start was really good and I want to keep like this. It was nice. I had a chance to play a little bit and I enjoyed it. I helped the team and I want to keep doing the same in the future."

Mancini decided to limit Aguero to half an hour of action in a bid to help him build up his match fitness, a decision the striker fully supports. "He knows how I am and it was okay for me to play 30-35 minutes."
