With Harry Redknapp considering the prospect of selling Luka Modric, the Tottenham boss has set his sights on replacements and Real Madrid's Lassana Diarra is in the frame.

With Chelsea expected to lodge a fresh bid for Modric, Redknapp has suggested he may be able to build a better team with the money brought in from the sale.

He has stressed the sale will not leave Tottenham short, as was the case when Dimitar Berbatov was sold to Manchester United, and has earmarked targets.

Scott Parker is a potential signing but he also has eyes on Diarra - a player he worked with at Portsmouth - for the holding role in midfield.

"As for Diarra, I like him," Redknapp said. "It's a possibility.

"The chairman (Daniel Levy) has been trying to do something there."
