Wenger hits out at UEFA probe

A defiant Arsene Wenger said he has "nothing to hide" after UEFA began disciplinary action against him for an alleged breach of his touchline ban during Arsenal's clash with Udinese.

Wenger was seen in the stands communicating with first-team coach Boro Primorac, who then appeared to relay messages via phone to pitch-side Gunners assistant Pat Rice.

The Frenchman was under the impression that using a third party to pass on instructions was acceptable practice, but he was warned about his conduct during half-time, and remained silent throughout the second period - although Primorac continued to make calls.

His actions have now landed him in hot water ahead of the second leg of the Champions League qualifier against Udinese, when Arsenal will head to Italy protecting a one-goal lead.

"It's a big surprise, but we are completely open to any enquiries," Wenger said. "We have nothing to hide. I don't think we've done anything wrong. I did not communicate with the bench. They gave us the rules and we observed strictly what they told us."
