Cerci set to reject Manchester City's advances

Manchester City target Alessio Cerci wants to remain at Fiorentina next season.

Cerci has been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium in recent months, with Roberto Mancini readily admitting he is an admirer of the player.

Having fallen out with the club's fans last term, Cerci was keen to leave the Florence outfit earlier this summer. It seemed City would prove willing suitors as Mancini spoke of his need to add three more players to his squad, but now a deal looks unlikely.

"The negotiations with City exist,'' said Cerci to the club's official website. "But my wish is to remain here considering that I have made peace with the fans.''

Cerci joined Fiorentina from Roma last summer and signed a four-year contract with the Tuscan outfit.
