Joey Barton has admitted his mind is far from made up with regard to a potential move from Newcastle to Queens Park Rangers.

Despite being one of Newcastle's key players, Barton has been made available on a free transfer after a falling out with the club's top brass over the summer.

QPR, looking to strengthen following the takeover by Tony Fernandes, came in with an offer on Wednesday and Barton travelled down to London for talks and to undergo a medical.

It appears the medical has passed off without undue alarm, but the midfielder has yet to nail his colours to the QPR mast with a number of days remaining in the transfer window.

"The latest is we are completing the final stages of the medical, get that over and done with and see where we are at," Barton told Sky Sports News. "I've not made a final decision yet, but after speaking to the club they have got big ambitions and I had to see what they had to say and go through the medical just in case a deal happens."

When asked if he felt a deal would be concluded, Barton said: "I am not sure. There are a number of things still to be sorted out and it is a process that you have to take it step by step."
