Newcastle close in on Elliot and Santon
Charlton goalkeeper Rob Elliot is in Newcastle to hold talks and undergo a medical, as he seeks to tie up a move before the end of the transfer window.
Elliot, 25, has been at the centre of a brewing row between the two clubs in recent weeks with Charlton having made a formal complaint over the Premier League side's pursuit.
Newcastle have allowed Fraser Forster to go out on loan to Celtic once again with Dutchman Tim Krul having snatched the No. 1 berth from Steve Harper, whose place on the bench was taken by Ole Soderberg at the weekend with the older man injured. Elliot is out of contract at the end of this season.
Also in the North East for a medical is Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon, who is on the verge of a reported £5 million move to St James' Park.
