I'm the right role model for Carroll - Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry believes Andy Carroll should look to follow his example, after Fabio Capello criticised the Liverpool striker for his excessive drinking.
Last week Capello chastised Carroll, saying that "he's a good forward ... but he needs to improve, to drink less" after being unimpressed with the imposing forward's fitness and form after he joined up with the England camp for the two qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales.
But Terry, who has his own history of notable and high profile mistakes, believes that he is evidence that players can mature over time - and hopes he can be a role model for the 22-year-old as his own career develops.
"He's a young player who's at a very good club with a really good future," Terry said. "He has still got to enjoy his time away from football. I'm sure he will.
"He's a really good pro on the pitch and good around the camp. I've made my mistakes, maybe drunk a little bit too much when I was younger and gone out a little bit too much.
"But, having gone through that, at 26 or 27 you maybe look back and are glad you did it then because you don't want to do it now."
In the meantime Terry is concentrating on helping England defeat Wales at Wembley. The country's home form has not been stellar in recent times - last winning at the national stadium in September 2010 - but Terry is not worried.
"It [England's home form] is not becoming a concern," he said. "People can look too much into that. I don't think there is any real logic to that at all. At Chelsea I've gone years without losing at home and then all of a sudden that changes.
"You suddenly can't buy a win at home. This is football really. But, as players, it would be nice to get that win and get that talk finished with. We believe if we put in as good a performance as the other night in Bulgaria, then we should be okay.
"Three points is key but we are in a good position. Our destiny is in our hands once again. If we win, it will be nice to sit top of the group for a while."
Terry is wary of Wales, despite England notching a comfortable 2-0 win in Cardiff in March, with the Chelsea defender taking nothing for granted against their Home Nations rivals as England look to close in on qualification for Euro 2012 following their 3-0 scalp of Bulgaria on Friday.
He said: "Wales are a really good side going forward and defensively solid as well. I expect a really tough game. I hope no one expects an easy game, from the fans' or players' point of view. If we can follow on from where we left off the other night, that will be the perfect start.
"But we've seen at times things don't go as you have worked all week. If it doesn't happen, we've got to remain patient and that goes for the players and the fans as well, to stay with us to the end."
