AVB faces chop if we don't win CL - Lampard

Frank Lampard admits Andre Villas-Boas will struggle to hang on to his job if Chelsea fail to challenge for the Champions League trophy this season.
The Blues reached the final in 2008, losing to Manchester United on penalities, but have failed to repeat that effort in the subsequent years, a state of affairs that reportedly cost Carlo Ancelotti his job.
Owner Roman Abramovich has prioritised the Champions League, shelling out huge amounts on Fernando Torres, David Luiz and Juan Mata this year to fund a tilt at Europe's premier club competition - and Lampard knows that the pressure is on to deliver.
"I don't know if it is as cut-and-dried as managers losing their jobs for not winning the Champions League, but … obviously it is something that the owner wants," said Lampard.
"When you've had a lot of domestic success, it's not just the owner but the whole club and the fans, you want that extra step - to win in Europe. As a club with what we've achieved in the last six or seven years, it's an obvious thing to say, the one thing that's missing from our cabinet is the Champions League.
"I wouldn't say that's the only reason managers have been sacked, but the pressure is cranked up regardless."
