Tottenham Hotspur have been hit by the news that they will be without captain Michael Dawson for the next two months.

The central defender has an Achilles problem to leave Harry Redknapp struggling for options at the heart of his defence.

Dawson picked up the injury in training and missed Spurs' 2-0 victory away to Wolves in the Premier League.

With only Younes Kaboul available and both William Gallas and Ledley King suffering long-term fitness problems, Redknapp may be forced to use Croatian international Vedran Corluka in their stead, with Sebastien Bassong coming in from the cold. Spurs tried to sell the Cameroon defender in the transfer window while missing out in their interest in Bolton's Gary Cahill.

King has recently recovered from his latest setback and was warned last week by Redknapp that he will have to play more often if he is to sustain a White Hart Lane future
