Man United leave Ferdinand out of Benfica trip

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has not travelled with the rest of the squad for Wednesday night's Champions League tie with Benfica.
Ferdinand has only played once in the last month after suffering a hamstring injury at West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the season.
He played the whole of Saturday's 5-0 drubbing of Bolton at the Reebok Stadium, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson has opted to leave him behind to rest ahead of Sunday's crunch showdown with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere in the team, Darren Fletcher, Park Ji-sung and Ryan Giggs could all start after being bit-part figures so far this term.
Nemanja Vidic will also miss out through injury, along with Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Rafael.
Man United squad: De Gea, Lindegaard; Evans, Evra, Fabio, Jones, Smalling; Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani, Park, Valencia, Young; Berbatov, Hernandez, Owen, Rooney
