Torres thanks fans after 'very difficult' start

Fernando Torres has thanked the Chelsea fans for being so supportive during what he admits has been a 'very difficult' start to life at the club for him.
The Spaniard moved to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool for £50 million in January, but struggled to settle at the club initially and suffered a well-documented goal drought during the second half of the season. Things have barely improved this campaign, with a well-taken goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford being overshadowed by a stunning miss that cost the Blues any chance they had of getting something from the game.
Saturday's match against Swansea saw a further twist to the saga - as Torres scored once again before being sent off for a dangerous two-footed tackle - but the World Cup winner is hopeful he will be able to repay the faith shown in him by supporters upon his return from suspension.
"Obviously, when you are doing great, scoring goals from the first day and doing good performances, it's easy for the fans to love and support you," Torres told Chelsea TV. "But the first six months for me at Chelsea have been very, very difficult and I have been struggling, and I have always had the support of the fans.
"From the first day till now, every time I talk with them on the street, the cafe, everywhere, I can feel the support they are giving me so it is nice to start scoring for them."
As for the red card, Torres hopes it is not an experience he ever repeats: "It is the first time I have received a red card in the Premier League and I hope it is the last one.
"It was really disappointing, especially because the team had to play with 10 men for a long time."
