Liverpool owner hurt in accident ahead of derby

Liverpool were rocked just hours before their Merseyside derby with Everton, after owner John Henry was taken to hospital following an accident on his yacht. The business tycoon has since been discharged.

According to reports coming out of the United States, Henry needed to be taken to hospital following the accidental fall. The Liverpool owner is, however, believed to have avoided any serious damage.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030 said that the tycoon, who also owns the Boston Red Sox, left his private boat in a neck brace after a minor incident. However, there were good signs with Henry able to walk away from the incident.

The report added that the 52-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Henry has since been discharged, although Liverpool are yet to offer official comment.

Liverpool take on Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season on Saturday. Skipper Steven Gerrard could be set to make his first start of the season for the Reds.
