England head coach Fabio Capello has played down reports linking him with the vacant managerial post at Anzhi Makhachkala.

Russian club Anzhi, who at present have Roberto Carlos in interim charge, are seeking a new manager after the sacking of Gadzhi Gadzhiev, and Capello has been mentioned as a potential target, as well as Guus Hiddink.

Capello, though, remains focused on leading England to Euro 2012 - after which he will step down - with his team on the brink of qualification, needing just a point from their trip to Montenegro on October 7.

The Italian said: "I am really focused on the Montenegro game. No-one has spoken to me from Russia, so I was surprised by everything that I read.

"But I read my name with Inter. I read my name with other teams, now the Russian team. The answer is always the same. I am really focused on my job, to go to the Euros.

"Before we think about the summer, we need to reach to the Euros. I will speak to you about the future after the next game. We need to think about qualification first. The other things are completely out of my mind."
