England manager Fabio Capello has been impressed by the potential shown by Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 18, has caught the eye since joining Arsenal from Southampton in the summer for around £12 million, the midfielder having scored in each of his last two outings for the Gunners.

Capello admits he is keeping tabs on Oxlade-Chamberlain and hopes to test his quality in England's forthcoming friendlies. The Italian told FATV: "I have been impressed with him.

"He is a really interesting player. He is a good player, who has a lot quality and is playing at a really high level. He will be a really interesting player for the next friendly games before the Euros, which hopefully will happen for us."

Capello went on to emphasise his delight at seeing Oxlade-Chamberlain and also Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck recently find the net in the Champions League.

"For players to score goals in this competition is really important, both to improve and find the confidence in their quality," Capello said. "It is the same when you play with the national team. When you play in the Premier League, you can score but the whole thing is really normal."
