England omission hurts - Defoe

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has expressed his disappointment at missing out on a place in the England squad to face Montenegro, insisting he feels he has never "let down" Fabio Capello before.
England tackle Montenegro in a Euro 2012 qualifier in Podgorica on Friday, with Capello surprising many with the inclusion of Fulham striker Bobby Zamora in his 24-man squad.
Defoe has begun the season in good form at Tottenham, forcing his way back into Harry Redknapp's starting line-up and scoring four goals in all competitions.
However, the 28-year-old has been overlooked in favour of Zamora and Manchester United starlet Danny Welbeck, and he accepts he will have to fight hard to make his way back into Capello's plans with competition for places so fierce.
"I am obviously very disappointed," Defoe said. "I feel I have not let Mr Capello down when I have played, but I will work hard to get my place back."
