Corinthians weighing up new Tevez offer

Corinthians general manager Edu has performed a U-turn over Carlos Tevez by hinting his club are now contemplating a bid for the Manchester City striker.
Edu said to BBC Sport last week that "there were no plans to try and sign Tevez", after the Brazilian giants were unsuccessful with an attempt during the summer transfer window.
But now it seems that Corinthians may table a fresh offer, with Tevez's City future up in the air. He has been suspended for two weeks for allegedly refusing to come on as a substitute in September's 2-0 Champions League loss at Bayern Munich.
"It was quite difficult to sign him [during the summer] because we only had a short time: our transfer window was closing," Edu, who is in England at present, told Sky Sports. "Now we are here to start talks, to see how the situation is, and to see if we can sign him for the summer.
"The situation is changing. Let's see - I want to see how Carlos Tevez is here, and what the situation is. Then I'm going to go to Brazil, to talk to the president and see if we can do something.
"I spoke to [Tevez's representative] Kia Joorabchian at the conference at Stamford Bridge [last week], but they were very formal talks, never talking about Carlos Tevez."
Asked if Corinthians can afford the transfer fee, expected to be in the region of £35 million, Edu said: "That's what we have to think about."
Argentina international Tevez played for Corinthians between 2004 and 2006, before moving to the Premier League, initially with West Ham. He went on to play for Manchester United and City, where he was stripped of the captaincy this season.
