Dalglish buoyed by Gerrard's return

Kenny Dalglish is ready to unleash Steven Gerrard against Manchester United at the weekend and expects Liverpool to be a much stronger prospect with the return of their captain.

Gerrard has been feeling his way back to fitness following groin surgery and is poised to start his first game in six months when the Reds host United on Saturday.

Liverpool have produced some mixed performances this term, victory at Arsenal the highlight and a mauling at Tottenham the low point, but the return of Gerrard has raised hope of a top-four push.

"A fit Steven Gerrard strengthens this football club, no question," Dalglish said. "If you have Steven in your squad, it's going to raise the profile and standard.

"We want to have a really strong squad - and him being in it makes it that much stronger."
