Tevez worth 'well below £40 million' - Corinthians

Manchester City have been warned by Corinthians president Andres Sanches that Carlos Tevez is worth "well below £40 million" amidst reports that the striker is set to see his suspension extended by the Premier League club.
Tevez was handed an initial two-week ban by City following his alleged refusal to come on as a substitute at Bayern Munich. The club have since conducted an inquiry into the events that took place in Munich, with findings set to be revealed.
City almost offloaded Tevez for £40 million to Corinthians during the summer window, but the two clubs ran out of time to complete the deal. General manager Edu has since confirmed talks about a January switch will take place, but club president Sanches has warned City to expect to take a major financial hit.
"We made an offer in the window, he is a player who interests us, but only in January will we see if we have a chance," Sanches was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
"He is not worth £40 million - we will make an offer well below it. I don't know if they will accept it, the [financial] gap is huge. I have a value in mind but I won't say what it is.
"The written offer of £40 million isn't worth anything now. After all of the problems, he should be worth less. What if he brings these problems here?"
ESPNsoccernet understands Tevez is facing further punishment from City, having returned to England on Wednesday ahead of the completion of his two-week suspension. The Argentina international has already given his version of events to City, with the forward suggesting he refused to repeat his warm up, rather than refuse to enter the field of play at the Allianz Arena.
City are considering a strong statement of intent over the incident, with Tevez potentially facing a fine and an increased suspension subject to PFA approval, meaning the Argentine could be demoted to the reserves ahead of a loan move or a sale in January. The club's hierarchy remain firmly behind Roberto Mancini, who said after the Bayern game that Tevez would never play again under his stewardship. An official statement from City is expected on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has denied reports that his club have started negotiations to sign the unsettled striker. Marotta told Gazzetta dello Sport: "It's normal to talk about players when it comes to Juventus. But we have not started negotiations to sign Tevez.
"We have a squad that meets our needs and we will evaluate week by week if we are lacking something. We are not the ones to discover Tevez. He is a great player and we are a great club so it's normal that there is a link, but to say that we are negotiating is a different matter."
