FA ponders Rooney appeal

England manager Fabio Capello faces an agonising decision whether to include striker Wayne Rooney in his squad for Euro 2012.
The Three Lions sealed their place at next summer's tournament with a 2-2 draw in Montenegro last Friday, but the result was marred by a red card for Rooney, who was dismissed for kicking out at Miodrag Dzudovic.
UEFA handed the forward a three-match ban on Thursday, meaning he will miss all three of England's group games in Poland and Ukraine. Capello has already said Rooney will not play a part in the build-up to Euro 2012 as he explores his attacking options.
FA chiefs are awaiting details of UEFA's decision, and will have three days to appeal the decision, but are yet to decide whether it is worth the risk - should the appeal fail, UEFA could extend the ban to four matches.
"Further to UEFA's decision to impose a three-match suspension on Wayne Rooney, the FA await the full reasons and will give full consideration to the decision internally before deciding on any response to UEFA or making any further public comment," said an FA statement.
