Liverpool beaten in Rangers friendly

Liverpool fell to a 1-0 defeat in Tuesday's mid-season friendly encounter with Rangers at Ibrox.
Kenny Dalglish took plenty of his first team squad to Glasgow in order to give his players some European experience. The Liverpool manager also sought to hand a number of key individuals some playing time.
Dalglish handed starts to the likes of Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson, both returning from injury, while Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy formed a strike partnership having failed to get off the bench in the recent 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The second half also saw the arrivals of several summer signings, including former Rangers player Charlie Adam, who was arguably the Reds' best player when he came on.
In the end, the game was settled by a first-half Lee McCulloch strike after Liverpool failed to clear a corner. The goal capped a disappointing performance in the eyes of Dalglish.
"I haven't seen much of Rangers this season so I don't know if that was them playing well or badly. For us, that was us playing badly. But that's not to take anything away from Rangers," the Liverpool boss commented on the club's official website.
"I don't think there was food for thought for the Norwich game. It was a disappointing result and we're a lot better than that but I suppose it was in mitigating circumstances because we had people coming back who haven't played too often."
