Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has publicly spoken in defence of Luis Suarez, insisting the entire club is behind the Uruguayan after he was accused of delivering racial abuse towards Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

Suarez and Evra became embroiled in an on-field verbal collision that had to be separated by referee Andre Marriner during Saturday's clash at Anfield. Evra then made his complaint against Suarez formal in the aftermath of the 1-1 draw.

Liverpool issued an immediate statement to support Suarez, who also made it clear that he felt he had done nothing wrong. However, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed on Monday that Evra is adamant he wants to pursue the issue, with the FA currently conducting an investigation into the disagreement.

Dalglish is keen to leave the issue in the hands of the FA, preferring instead to focus on the Reds' forthcoming clash with Norwich. However, he did make it abundantly clear that Liverpool believe Suarez to be completely innocent.

"The football club, and everybody at the football club, is totally and utterly behind Luis Suarez," Dalglish said.

"There was an allegation after the game about him diving all over the place, and then there was the allegation from Patrice Evra. Those two things are fairly emotive, but we fully support the wee man on both things, and everybody at the football club does.

"The football club dealt with it at the start of the week, we made the position known, and we won't be adding to it. We now look forward to a complete and transparent report from the FA."
