Norwich City manager Paul Lambert has urged England coach Fabio Capello to take a look at goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Ruddy, a former England Under-19 international, has been in fine form this season as Norwich find themselves in the top half of the Premier League in their first season back among the elite. And it was Ruddy who preserved a precious point at Anfield on Saturday with his late save from Luis Suarez.

"At big moments in big games, big players produce things, he certainly did that, he's been massive for me," Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk. "Last season he saved us in huge games and he's done it again this year, England should have a look at him.

The signing of Ruddy in the summer of 2010 initially did not go down well with the fans, who wanted Newcastle loanee Fraser Forster to return to the club. Forster eventually moved to Celtic on loan that summer, and he is back at Parkhead again this term on another temporary deal.

"People clamoured for Fraser to come back, not giving John time, but now quite rightly he might be getting looked at by England, that shows you the way he's playing," Lambert added.

Ruddy, who began his career at Cambridge United, moved to Carrow Road from Everton, where he made one substitute appearance in five years. He spent much of that time out on loan at Walsall, Rushden & Diamonds, Chester City, Stockport County, Wrexham, Bristol City, Crewe Alexandra and finally Motherwell.

Norwich have a wealth of talent in the goalkeeing department with Ruddy's understudy, Declan Rudd, a former U-19 international who is now part of the U-21 squad.

Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson was a surprise inclusion in the 40-man long list for the Euro 2012 decider against Montenegro earlier this month, though did not make the final squad.
