Spurs are better than Arsenal - Van der Vaart

Rafael van der Vaart believes Tottenham are a better side than north London rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League table after their 3-1 win over QPR on Sunday made it a return of 19 points from a possible 21 in their most recent seven league fixtures.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are placed seventh following their 5-3 scalp of Chelsea at the weekend, and are three points behind Spurs, who boast a game in hand over the Gunners.

"We are better than Arsenal," Van der Vaart said. "In our last seven games we have won six and drawn once. It's a long season, but I think we have a bigger and better squad.

"Are we the best team in London? Maybe, but it's still early. We're in a good way. We are much better than we were last season.

"Man City is the best team in the league and below them you have a lot of good teams and we are one of them."
