Beckham wins MLS battle with Henry
David Beckham had a hand in both goals as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 to book their place in the MLS Western Conference final.
The Galaxy led going into the game following a 1-0 win in the first leg and they finished the job at Home Depot Center.
Birmingham-born striker Luke Rodgers levelled the aggregate scores in the fourth minute when he scored for New York with a low shot, following a through ball from Thierry Henry.
However, Beckham and Mike Magee again teamed up to restore their team's overall advantage.
In the first leg Magee finished off a Beckham free-kick and on Thursday he headed in a trademark corner by the former England midfielder to make it 1-1 three minutes before half-time.
After Rodgers found the side-netting from a golden opportunity in the second half, Beckham was fouled in the penalty area by Roy Miller, allowing Landon Donovan to step up and seal a 3-1 aggregate success from the spot.
The Galaxy will have home advantage when they face Real Salt Lake in Sunday's final.
