Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is looking to step up his rehabilitation after revealing he is on schedule in his recovery from ankle surgery.

Wilshere had surgery six weeks ago after suffering a stress fracture in his right ankle during the summer.

The England international has been sorely missed by Arsenal and is unlikely to be available for selection until well into 2012, but his recovery is on track.

"Had 6 week X-ray earlier and all going well," he wrote on his Twitter page. "I can start to work a bit harder now."

Arsenal made a poor start to the season, the low point being the mauling by Manchester United, but they have hit form in recent weeks and are back in the hunt in the Premier League on the back of six wins out of the past seven games.
