Ryo Miyaichi's hopes of making an impact for Arsenal have been hit by the news he will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks with an ankle injury.

The Japan winger joined Arsenal in January of 2011, before being farmed out on loan to Dutch club Feyenoord. He was integrated into the Arsenal squad after being granted a work permit this summer.

Miyaichi has made a couple of appearances in the Carling Cup while also impressing for the reserves, but an injury picked up playing for the second string against Fulham has set him back.

"Ryo has sprained his left ankle and will be out for a minimum of three weeks," reserve team coach Neil Banfield told the club's official website.
