Corinthians cool Tevez pursuit

Corinthians marketing director Luis Paulo Rosenberg believes the club would be making a mistake if they re-signed Carlos Tevez.

Tevez, currently on an unauthorised break in Argentina, is expected to leave Manchester City in January and Corinthians have openly discussed the possibility of bringing back their former captain. Rosenberg, though, feels it would be a costly error.

"Enough with signing old players," he said in quotes reported by FutNet. "In marketing terms it would be successful, but financially, and for the morale of the team, it would not be a good idea overall."

Tevez was a success during his first stint with Corinthians but ultimately made a bitter exit in 2006 after falling out with coach Emerson Leao.

A return to Brazil now appears unlikely, but there could yet be hope of a move back to Argentina with Boca Juniors, his first club. Tevez left Boca in 2004 after complaining of press intrusion, but Juan Roman Riquelme - who moved back to the club in 2007 after five years in Spain - is hopeful a deal can be reached.

"I have spoken with Carlitos about the situation and I told him: if they are not going to take him into account in Manchester he should come here," he told FoxSports earlier this week. "I think that all of us Boca fans should put money in to be able to bring him back. Either that, or the club should make the effort to bring Carlitos back to Boca."
