Barcelona set sights on Bale

Having been described as the best left-sided player in the world by a Premier League rival, Gareth Bale continues to catch the eye and Barcelona scouts are on the Tottenham man's tail.
Bale has taken the Premier League by storm in the past couple of years and is one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet, having found life tough earlier in Harry Redknapp's reign.
The Welshman, who can operate anywhere down the left flank, has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, while Inter Milan - the side he tormented in the Champions League last season - have also been credited with an interest in a player who has been deeply praised by John Arne Riise.
But it would appear the finest side in football are keeping tabs on a player who appears to have the world at his feet. Barca manager Pep Guardiola sent key scout Albert Valentine to watch Bale in action against Fulham. Spurs were lucky to claim victory, but Bale will certainly have impressed by scoring one goal and creating another.
Bale is under contract until 2015 and Spurs showed in the summer when fending off interest from Chelsea in Luka Modric that they can fight their corner.
But Barca can offer a guarantee of Champions League football and the pull of playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi would be tough to resist should the Spanish giants firm up their interest with an offer.
