Bordeaux have confirmed their interest in re-signing Marouane Chamakh, but are finding it difficult to nail down the Arsenal striker.

Chamakh made a fine start to life at Arsenal following his move from les Girondins in 2010, but his form dipped in the second half of last season and he has been restricted to a bit-part role this term.

The forward has grown frustrated with his lack of playing time and Bordeaux are keen to offer him a route back to Ligue 1, but they are finding it tough to make contact.

"I've left four or five messages with him [Chamakh] in two months," Bordeaux president Jean Louis Triaud is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.

"[I've] also tried [Arsenal manager Arsene] Wenger. No response. His silence shows probably that he still hopes he will make it at Arsenal."
