Johnson poised to sign new City deal
Manchester City winger Adam Johnson is close to signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2015.
Johnson, who joined City from Middlesbrough in January 2010, was recently the subject of criticism by City boss Roberto Mancini, who singled the winger out for a lack of effort.
But Mancini subsequently claimed he loved Johnson "like a child", and insists his criticism was merely a motivational tactic.
"I say what I want because if he were not a good player then I wouldn't waste my time on him. But because he has everything, I don't want him stopping at this level. I want him up a level and then a level more."
Johnson has scored nine goals in 66 games for City, with four of those coming this season.
