Dimitar Berbatov is an injury worry for Manchester United after limping off during the Carling Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

The forward was handed a start, with Sir Alex Ferguson electing to shuffle his pack, but he was withdrawn at the break after appearing to land awkwardly during the first half.

Ferguson did not comment on the Bulgarian forward following the match, but Berbatov was seen leaving Old Trafford with his foot in a protective cast. That could have been as a precaution, but he did look in discomfort during an assessment by the physio at the side of the pitch.

United are currently without striker Michael Owen due to injury, while Javier Hernandez has only recently returned to fitness.

The Red Devils face Aston Villa on Saturday, live on ESPN, and there is doubt as to whether Berbatov will be available.
