Rooney focused ahead of Euro appeal - Sir Alex

Sir Alex Ferguson insists Wayne Rooney's focus is solely on Manchester United's crucial Champions League clash against FC Basel and not his impending Euro 2012 appeal hearing.
Rooney is appealing against a three-game ban for a straight red card received after kicking Montenegro's Miodrag Dzudovic in October. The England striker will head directly from Basel to UEFA headquarters in Nyon the day after the match for the hearing.
"It's a different day, it is a big game, an important game," Ferguson said. "I don't think the hearing will come into it at all."
United, meanwhile, need a point in the clash at St Jakob Park, while Basel must win in order to progress to the next stage. Ferguson believes his men have the expertise required to get the job done in Switzerland.
"I think we have to rely on experience in the last few years away from home - that is the record we are taking into the game. It helps us, there is no question about that and let's hope it does for this match.
"I don't think that pressure affects us if you look at the number of games these players play in. They're involved year in, year out in semi-finals and finals. This is that situation - this is a big game and a hard one.
"The concentration levels in the games recently have been very good. It will be a fantastic atmosphere. I have been here in the past and the Basel fans always make it difficult," he said.
Key battle: The Frei pair of Alexander and Fabian caused United no end of problems during their impressive display at Old Trafford, so Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand - fresh from a subtle switch in positions - will need to ensure they are sharper than ever to avoid making the night more nervy than it needs to be.
Prediction: 1-3
Bet of the day: Simple, straightforward: United to win both halves is 10/3 with bet365
