ESPNsoccernet understands QPR boss Neil Warnock is keen to sign Tottenham's Roman Pavlyuchenko, Manchester City's Nigel de Jong and West Ham's James Tomkins in January.

Following Tony Fernandes' takeover in the summer, QPR were able to invest in the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joey Barton, and Warnock was this week told he will be given the funds to embark on a spending spree when the transfer window reopens.

"The board know we need some more players and they have been very supportive," Warnock said. "We are on the lookout for four or five. I'm not saying they're all going to be big-name signings, but we need numbers in the squad."

Both Harry Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy have said Spurs will not part with any of their key stars in January, but Pavlyuchenko is among the fringe players who could move on in search of more first-team opportunities. Redknapp, though, will not sell until he has lined up replacements.

The De Jong deal would be a loan arrangement, with the Dutchman struggling to secure regular games this season, but the prospect of a deal being reached appear remote, with Roberto Mancini already resigned to losing Yaya Toure for the African Cup of Nations in January.

West Ham have already told ESPNsoccernet that a £3 million offer for Tomkins would be rejected out of hand. The former England Under-21 defender has three years remaining on his contract and has been offered an extension on improved terms should the Hammers secure promotion.
