Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted he may be forced into the January transfer market on account of the loss of Kolo Toure and his brother Yaya.

The duo will head to the African Cup of Nations in late January and are likely to be absent with Ivory Coast for a month.

Mancini's side face a potentially pivotal encounter with Tottenham on January 22 and mindful of their bid for Premier League glory, the Italian is not ruling out a raid on the transfer market.

"I can say we can have a big problem for Kolo and Yaya, because we lose them for one month," Mancini said in response to whether he would look to boost his squad in January.

Ahead of his side's clash with Stoke on Wednesday, he added: "In this month we play every difficult games. It is a crucial month."
