Patrice Evra has confessed he is "worried" Manchester United's title challenge will be derailed by a crowded treatment room.

United were forced to employ a makeshift defence in Monday's 5-0 win against Wigan, with Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia among the back four. The Red Devils then lost Jonny Evans, who is expected to be out for the next couple of weeks.

Evans' absence heightens the importance of returns for Rio Ferdinand (back), Phil Jones and Chris Smalling (both ill) ahead of United's next game against Blackburn. And after pulling level with neighbours City at the top of the table, Evra admits it is concerning to see the squad so severely weakened.

"I am a little bit worried because we need everyone if we are going to win the league," the France international said. "It is starting to get annoying.

"It is not the first year we got so many injuries. Two years ago I played with Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher at the back. The most important thing is that we won but I hope everyone gets fit because Blackburn is another big game and we need all the defenders."

Park Ji-sung scored the opening goal for United against Wigan, converting the good work of Evra, and he too expressed his disbelief at their current run of bad luck.

"I have never known anything like it," said Park. "Hopefully we will get our defenders back pretty quickly because we are coming up to some very important games. We have to deal with it and get through this period."
