Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has issued a plea for help to Thierry Henry, insisting the Frenchman has proved in training that he still has what it takes to excel in the Premier League.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is currently trying to decide whether to bring Henry back to the club on a short-term loan deal. The New York Red Bulls star is available during the MLS off-season, and Arsenal need attacking options with Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho set to go to the African Cup of Nations.

Wenger recently confessed he would make his decision on Henry by the start of the January transfer window, which begins at the turn of the year.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's Premier League clash with Wolves, Song insisted Henry would be no passenger if he came back to Emirates Stadium. Indeed, Song is convinced the club's record goalscorer would boost their chances of getting back into the title picture.

"When I see him training, I am teasing him: 'You could still play with us, you know?' But he has never replied and just smiled," Song told L'Equipe.

"What he achieved during his career is just amazing. He has nothing more to prove in football.

"Today he has the opportunity to give us a help. A player with such stature, such potential. He would bring us a lot."
