Wolves launch Milijas appeal

Wolves have confirmed they have lodged an appeal with the FA over Nenad Milijas's red card in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday.

Milijas was given his marching orders in the second half at Emirates Stadium for what referee Stuart Attwell deemed to be a late challenge on Mikel Arteta, although manager Mick McCarthy was critical of the decision in his post-match press conference.

The club have now lodged an official appeal, and hope the Serbian's automatic three-match ban will be rescinded and he will be available to play in Saturday's game against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium.

"Wolves have confirmed they have lodged an appeal with the Football Association for wrongful dismissal following the controversial red card shown to Nenad Milijas against Arsenal," a club statement read.

"Club officials needed to notify the FA of their intentions today [Wednesday] and will now formulate a case for the FA who will hear the appeal and make a decision before Saturday's next game away at Bolton."
