Beckham turns down PSG switch

David Beckham looks set to sign a new contract with MLS champions LA Galaxy, turning down the chance to return to European football with Paris Saint Germain.
It was thought Beckham, 36, would leave the US league this month after the expiry of his five-year deal with Galaxy in favour of a swansong at big-spending Ligue 1 side PSG, but sporting director Leonardo now suggests a deal is unlikely to go ahead.
Although Leonardo may give the former England captain time to reconsider his position, it now seems as though Beckham does not want to leave his family behind in California - as he has done in previous loan spells at AC Milan - on what would be a long-term basis.
Leonardo has been quoted in the Brazilian media as saying: "He will not come to PSG. It has never been an issue related to the professional side of things - it's his family.
"It would be a difficult decision to take, to move his family to Paris.
"I know him. I have great admiration for him as a player but as a father too. I know these changes are hard."
