The prospect of Mark Hughes taking over at Queens Park Rangers has increased following confirmation he has arrived at Loftus Road for talks.

QPR axed Neil Warnock on Sunday, with chairman Tony Fernandes citing the need to turn the club's fortunes around on the pitch as the reason behind the decision.

Hughes was swiftly linked with the role, although former Chelsea assistant Ray Wilkins put his name forward for the role on Monday.

However, it would appear Hughes is the favourite as he arrived in West London with his agent Kia Joorabchian on Monday afternoon.

Fernandes has made it clear he wants the new man in place by the end of the week and with that in mind, Hughes appears well positioned to take over.
