Thierry Henry has described his return to action with Arsenal as "amazing", after climbing off the bench and bagging the winner against Leeds United in the FA Cup.

Henry rejoined his former club in a loan deal last week and was handed a place on the bench. He was thrown on with the score 0-0 on 68 minutes. And within 10 minutes he turned the tie Arsenal's way by collecting a pass and stroking the ball into the bottom corner.

He was voted ESPN's man of the match before he had stepped foot on the pitch. It was as if the fans knew he would make the difference, but it is a moment Henry did not feel would ever happen.

"It is kind of weird," Henry told ESPN. "Since I came back from holiday I did not think I would play for Arsenal again, now I score a winner.

"I love the club. I don't know what I can say. I just wanted to help and hopefully I can do more.

"The feeling that I had when I scored was amazing. Scoring a goal when you support a team, now I know what it is like for the guys who played for Manchester United, Chelsea to score for the club you support.

"It is a wonderful opportunity. It is important because you do not know when you will get another one. It was important I took it."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger enjoyed watching the Henry of old.

"You could see Thierry brought his class but also how much it means to him to come on and make the difference," Wenger told ESPN. "It was something you couldn't even predict before the game.

"It's great that he's back here and got the goal that qualifies us. You see that when he gets in these kind of positions, we've seen it so many times, him finishing at the right moment. It looks easy but it's not."

Asked about the mood of the dressing room, Wenger added: "It's a little bit of euphoria because everyone's happy for Thierry."
