Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted he is hoping to add extra firepower to his squad, and the Spurs boss was present to personally witness Frenchman Loic Remy score a brace during Sunday's match between Marseille and Lille.

Spurs have put themselves in contention to land the Premier League crown this term - the White Hart Lane club are only two points behind Manchester United and leaders Manchester City.

However, a lacklustre showing in the 1-1 draw at home to Wolves on Saturday highlighted a need for more variety in the final third when games get tight, and Remy would offer a direct, ball-dribbling option that Spurs' other forwards perhaps lack.

Redknapp may have dismissed claims linking the club with a Luka Modric-for-Fernando Torres swap deal, but the 64-year-old is open to the idea of drafting in Remy, who currently plays for Ligue 1 outift Marseille.

"I am off to watch Marseille," Redknapp said on Saturday. "I am going to go and have a look at him [Remy], we have had reports - I watched him 18 months to two years ago. I doubt anything will come of it but we are looking."

Marseille hosted Lille at 8pm on Sunday, with Remy scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory.
