Bolton put their Premier League troubles to one side to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Macclesfield 2-0.

Returning to the Bolton line-up, Kevin Davies justified his selection when putting the Trotters ahead inside the first minute. The England striker tapped in from close range after Ivan Klasnic's centre for his first goal since November.

Martin Petrov extended Owen Coyle's side's advantage when, sent free by Tuncay, he caught Macclesfield keeper Jose Veiga off guard by shooting early from 25 yards. Macclesfield grew in confidence in the second half and had Adam Bogdan not been in such fine form between Bolton's sticks then they could have heaped further woe on a Bolton side struggling for results.

However, Bogdan came to the rescue several times after the break and a fightback never materialised, leaving Bolton to hold on and book an all-Premier League tie against Swansea.

Mark Hughes claimed his first win as QPR boss after his side edged MK Dons 1-0 to advance. MK Dons had the better of the chances - Charlie MacDonald going close before Jobo Ibehre somehow failed to convert from six yards out - but it was the home side who scored against the run of play.

Shaun Wright-Phillips's corner was met by Danny Gabbidon, who headed in the winner. The League One opposition can feel hard done by but victory for Rangers marked their first triumph in 11 games. London rivals Chelsea await in the next round.

A Jermaine Beckford hat-trick inspired Leicester to a 4-0 rout of Nottingham Forest, with the Foxes strolling past their rivals to set up a fourth-round tie against Swindon. George Boateng was the man with egg on his face as his own goal handed Leicester an early lead, but Robbie Findley should have levelled for the visitors when presented with a golden opportunity.

There was an element of luck in Beckford's first goal: Lee Camp deflected a cross into his path and the striker made no mistake. He finished with aplomb to stretch Leicester's lead, before completing his hat-trick at the second attempt in the 57th minute to seal the Foxes' passage into the next round.

Darius Henderson grabbed a hat-trick as Millwall finally found their goalscoring touch to see off Dagenham 5-0. Top scorer Henderson found the net for the first time since November and Tottenham loanee Harry Kane grabbed his first goals for the club as they dispatched their League Two opponents at the second attempt.

Victory came as a huge relief to manager Kenny Jackett, who had seen his side score just once in their previous eight outings and thumped 6-0 by Birmingham just three days ago to leave them embroiled in the Championship relegation battle. It also meant Millwall made it through to the fourth round - and a home tie with Southampton - for only the third time in eight attempts since they lost the 2004 final to Manchester United.
